Getting to Salento

Reaching Salento from your stay takes around 45 minutes on foot, around 7 minutes on car or a timeless experience through the hiking trails.

from Boquia House

The hike through Camino Real begins directly beside Boquia House. This hike leads up directly to Salento. The first half can be a bit rocky, the second half becomes a rural road.

Follow the river upstream and look for the park with the birdwatching post (you’ll see birds and waterfalls,
10.000 COP to enter).

Follow the river downstream. This is a longer but more interesting hike to Salento. Other guests have shared this as a more sightly option.

Note: walking through the main road is the shortest way towards Salento but it is also a bit more risky. You will have to be wary of the incoming traffic.

Buses are the cheapest option at just 2.000 COP. They are constantly passing by Boquia House’s entrance but you will have to walk to one of the hotels to board the bus, either Mirador Hotel across the street or Lagos de Venecia on the same side of the road.
Kindly note: the image above is one of the most frequent buses going to Salento, but there are several bus lines leading up to Salento passing by this main road. They all have signs with the destination.
